Notes Mushakonoji was a highly influential Japanese novelist, playwright, and artist of the late Taishō and Shōwa periods. Key Contributions: Co-founder of the literary magazine Shirakaba (White Birch), which helped break the mold of naturalist writing in Japan. He also experimented with communal living by establishing a Utopian commune called Atarashiki Mura (New Village). Famous Works: Yūjō (Friendship) and Ai to shi (Love and Death).
