Scroll painting, signed in ink at lower right and with the artist’s stamp in red ink, executed on fine, dark cream silk, laid onto a decorated silk scroll with blue peony motif. Fine condition overall, some very minor, scattered foxing in the image. Free shipping to US address.
NotesItsuryo Shiozaki was born in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture, Japan in Meiji 17 (1884). He attended the Tokyo School of Art, and by age 13 was exhibiting in Ueno Park, Tokyo. He was a ten-time recipient of the Emperor's art prize. He is known for depiction of flowers and birds as in this magnificent Eagle. Shiozaki died in Tokyo on Showa 49 (1974).
