NotesDuring the fall of 1944 and the spring of 1945, Jackson Pollock made a significant series of eleven engravings, working sporadically over several months at Stanley William Hayter's Atelier 17 in New York. These engravings, created during World War II, were never publicly shown during Pollock's lifetime. His widow, Lee Krasner, later found them and their associated printing plates. In 1967, Krasner in collaboration with the Department of Drawings and Prints at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York undertook the publication of these prints in an edition of 50. They were printed by Emiliano Sorini in New York. The plates were donate to the MoMA in 1969.
