NotesHéctor Ragni was born in Buenos Aires November 29, 1897. He was an Argentine painter and engraver, who had a standout performance in the Uruguayan, Catalan and Argentine artistic field. His parents were Emilio Ragni and Rosa Fontana, in a family of 4 brothers and two sisters of Italian origin who had arrived in Buenos Aires in the late 19th century. In his early days, while still a teenager, he worked as an advertising poster painter and then linked himself to the Stimulation Society of Fine Arts, working on friendship with Adolfo Bellocq. In 1915 he travelled to Montevideo and 3 years later to Barcelona. In the Catalan city he worked with Enrique C. Ricart, Francisco Canyellas and José Obio, with whom he learned the technique of engraving in wood. This era of artistic ferment also related to the Agrupació d'Artistes Catalans where he collectively exhibited 4 paintings in 1920.
