NotesHermann Bethke (July 1, 1825 in Braunschweig; April 18, 1895 in Munich) was a German genre painter.
Bethke was a student of Heinrich Brandes in Braunschweig. From 1850 onward, he attended the Alte Pinakothek in Munich, and from May 10, 1851, he studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich.
After completing his studies, he settled in Munich and worked as a genre painter. In the Biedermeier style, Bethke primarily painted scenes from everyday life in the Bavarian countryside.
