NotesYuri Vasilievich Balanovsky was born June 8, 1914 in the village of Bota (now the Zaporozhye region). He graduated from the Kharkov Art School in 1934 and the Kharkov Art Institute in 1942. He studied under M. Shcheglov, M. Sharonov, M. Deregus, S. Besedin, M. Samokish. He worked primarily in the field of easel painting. Major works: At the sick commissar (1938); Ilyich. (1963); Experienced (1965); New Owners of the Winter Palace (1967). Participated in exhibitions: Republican since 1945, all-Union since 1938. Awarded with medals.
