Note:
Nikolai Sokolov was a member of the important Soviet art collective known as the KuKriNiksky, comprised of Sokolov, Mikhail Kupriyanov and Porfiry Krylov. The KuKriNiksky created the most famous anti-Nazi propaganda and satiric artwork of World War II. In addition to their work as graphic artists each member of the KuKriNiksky had individual careers as painters. Sokolov's landscapes are intimate and display the romantic influence of his teacher Mikhail Nesterov. Through his work with the KuKriNiksky Sokolov's works are kept and exhibited in every major Russian museum and are also in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, The Art Institute of Chicago, MOMA New York, and the Cooper Hewitt Museum.
