NotesJeanne Roberts was born in Montreal, Canada, where she studies art at the Saint Joseph Academy and the Ursulene of Quebec. She became a commercial artist for a while, but after moving to Las Cruces, NM, she fell in love with the local scenery of the Organ Mountains and began painting exclusively for Art’s sake. She exhibited extensively at the New Mexico Museum of Art, Santa Fe; the New Mexico State Fair, Albuquerque; the Albuquerque Public Library; the Coliseum; the Woman's Improvement Association (WIA), Las Cruces; and in El Paso, TX. Jeanne often ventured to discover the beauty of her adopted state of New Mexico as in this painting of Nambe Lake, an alpine lake about 40 miles north-east of Santa Fe. Roberts exhibited extensively in the annual "Fiesta Show" sponsored by The New Mexico Museum of Art. She won several awards there between 1950 and 1965. Roberts moved to San Anselmo, CA in 1965 where she died in 2001.
