NotesValery Grigorevich Kokurin was born in Vladimir, Russia in 1930. He studied at the Central House of People’s Creativity in Moscow until 1950. He began exhibiting around 1955, taking place in the “Soviet Russia” exhibition in Moscow in 1960. His works have been exhibited throughout the world. Many works are in collections of the State Tretyakov gallery, the State Russian museum, in the Murom istoriko art museum, in the Vladimir istoriko art memorial estate and also in private collections world wide. Kokurin is one of the founding members (with Vladimir Yukin and Kim Britov) of the Vladimir School of Landscape Painting, named after their home city. The Vladimir School is one of the most important movements to emerge from the Soviet Era art after 1950. He passed in 2019 Kokurin is listed in Matthew Bown’s, A Dictionary of Twentieth Century Russian And Soviet Painters.
