NotesJoan Ponc was born in Barcelona in 1927. He studied in the studio of Ramon Rogent and at the Academia de Artes Plasticas, Barcelona.

In 1947, with the poet Brossa, he founded the review "Argol", and in 1948 he was a founding member of "Dau al Set", together with the painters Tapies, Cuixart and Tharrats, the poet Brossa and the philosopher Arnau Puig. He later founded the school called "L'Espai" in Sao Paulo.

Among other awards, he has obtained the Scholarship of the 1955 Sao Paulo Biennale, the International Grand Prix for Drawing at the 1965 Sao Paulo Biennale and the Barcelona Art Critics' Prize in 1970.

Joan Ponc died in Barcelona in 1984 .
