NotesArturo Reque Meruvia was born in Cochabamba, Bolivia. He was a Bolivian painter, muralist and printmaker. His academic training began at the School of Fine Arts of Buenos Aires, where he studied for two years. In 1929 he traveled to Spain thanks to a scholarship to the Royal Academy of San Fernando, in which he studied engraving, a specialty in which he excelled. In 1931 he exhibited in the Circle of Fine Arts of Madrid, in Paris and in the halls of the Mutuality of Students of Buenos Aires. He was influenced by Goya, Doré, and Delacroix.
