NotesPierre-Marie Brisson (born 11 June 1955 in Orléans) is a French painter of the colorist's current. His workshop, located in Aigues-Mortes in the Gard, allowed him to remain close to his main inspiration: the Mediterranean.
Pierre Marie Brisson is interested in art through archaeology and prehistory. A painter at the age of 14, he developed his art, pushed by Bernard Saby. He attended fine arts classes at the age of 20, in 1975, and organized his first exhibition at the Charles Péguy Museum [in Orléans.
In 1976, he decided to leave his work at Robert Laffont. Therefore, he will only be “being in real life, receiving, sharing, traveling” to fuel his urgency to paint. This primacy of freedom is found from his earliest works, engravings with warm colors depicting letters and characters. He constantly tried experiments in constant dialogue with the subject. He sought the side of the primitive arts, prehistory, archaeology.
In 1979, he began engraving at the Pasnic workshop in the 20th arrondissement of Paris with the Herzog family.
In 1980, he made his first exhibition in New York, organized by the publisher Bruno Roulland, during which he sold everything.
Between 1990 and 1994, Japan became interested in his works as part of a travelling exhibition organized by Vision New in the cities of Tokyo, Osaka, Kobe.
In 1994, he decided to settle in the Camargue, in Aigues-Mortes. He took the opportunity to exhibit in the Gard regularly.
Since then, it has also been present in galleries in France, the United States and South Korea.
Brisson's works are in public and private collections in France, the United States, Germany, Japan, Italy, Argentina, South Korea, and Switzerland.
