NotesBernard Gantner was a French painter, lithographer, and printmaker. He was introduced to oil painting by Léon Delarbre who was, at the time (since 1929), curator of the Museum of Fine Arts of Belfort. After obtaining the bachelor's degree in philosophy, he went to Paris where he briefly attended the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts, then attended the Académie de la Grande Chaumière, especially to be trained in painting by a large attendance of museums and galleries. He is known for his winter landscapes of great poetic density. His drawings, seized in direct contact with nature, are at the source of most of its oils, watercolours or lithographs (made on stone and not on zinc). For more than 50 years, he executed 80 oils per year, or 4,000 pieces, 700 watercolours, 500 lithographs, 100 etchings and illustration of 11 bibliophile books. After living in Switzerland on the shore of Lake Geneva, he settled in 1962 at Lachapelle-sous-Chaux (Territoire de Belfort. In its now-closed personal museum in Lachapelle-sous-Chaux, we have discovered an arboretum, a wildlife park and gardens. Bernard Gantner was first married in 1951. He had two children: Pierre Gantner, who has become a professional flute teacher since 2008 and participates in multiple performances, auditions at the Henri Dutilleux Conservatory before leaving the latter in 2019 after the last Rencontre des Flûtistes that he organized twice a year, every year since February and June. Pierre brought the flute to life in Belfort; it was he who created this discipline in the former conservatory (before the new Conservatory "Henri Dutilleux" created in 2015). The recorder was not taught here before him. He rewrites and creates any voice to be added if necessary, in his own way of writing, and his scores are as beautiful to hear as to look. The Gantner family is an artistic family in both painting and music. He left the conservatory and was replaced since 2019.
